Type 1 - Mild Acne	Mainly comedones with an occasional small inflamed papule or pustule. Multiple open and closed comedones are present, with few inflammatory papules.	P. acne bacteria colonization has not yet developed in large numbers.	No scarring present

Type 3 - Moderate to severe acne	Numerous comedones, papules, and pustules, spreading to the back, chest, and shoulders, with an occasional cyst or nodule. Erythematous papules pustules, and nodules are present on the face.	Very large colony of  P. Acne bacteria	Moderate scarring
Type 4 - Severe acne	Numerous large cysts on the face, neck, and upper trunk. Multiple painful nodules are present on the back, neck, chest and face.	Very large colony of  P. Acne bacteria	Severe scarring
